Photos and Story by

Portland Community College is bringing in one of the more celebrated singers/songwriters of the boomer generation to the college for a Saturday, April 10 show aimed at bolstering the college’s scholarship programs.

Margie Adam, the woman who penned Peter, Paul and Mary’s "Best Friend The Unicorn Song" and landed the Lifetime Achievement Award in Women’s Music in 1997, has agreed to play at the PCC Performing Arts Center on the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave., at 8 p.m.

The concert represents a combined effort of the Sylvania Campus Women’s Resource Center, Cascade Women’s Resource Center, Rock Creek Student Resource Center and the PCC chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) to aid PCC programs and help its students. Proceeds from ticket sales will support scholarships and services for PCC students.

Tickets for the best seats in the house and admission to a dessert reception with Margie Adam are available for $50. These tickets can be purchased by contacting Linda Reisser at 978-5292. General admission tickets are available for $16 in advance and $18 at the door.

For more information, call Reisser at the above number.
