PCC Nursing instructor Teri Mills jets between Salem and Washington, DC, to meet legislators

Photos and Story by

“Rolling stones gather no moss”: A saying that could easily be applied to PCC’s Teri Mills, a longtime nursing instructor who recently accompanied a handful of nursing students to Salem, to meet with state legislators and discuss a variety of health care legislation in the mix. Next, Mills jettisoned to Washington, DC, to lobby on behalf of a bill — HR 485, National Nurse Act of 2013 — currently before Congress, which proposes the establishment of a full-time National Nurse for Public Health. The new position would collaborate with the Office of the Surgeon General to identify and prioritize national health priorities.
