The college’s graduation, set for June 13, is right around the corner, which means “completion ceremony season” – to celebrate students’ achievements prior to commencement – is about to begin at Portland Community College. At the Sylvania Campus, the Gerontology Program hosted its completion ceremony on May 21 to honor the accomplishments of those students receiving a degree or certificate this year. The event served as an opportunity for students to connect with faculty and staff, as well as with community partners that contribute to the success of the Gerontology Program. Portland Water Bureau lifts boil water notice; tap water safe to drink 1
As of 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, the Portland Water Bureau has lifted its boil water notice, and tap water is safe to drink for residents within the city. Follow-up testing of drinking water has shown the absence of bacterial contamination; it is recommended that all taps are flushed for up to five minutes to ensure flushing out any potentially contaminated water from plumbing. The bureau issued a boil water notice on Friday, May 23, when it detected E-coli in three tests of the city’s water in as many days.
