The completion of the college’s bond-funded addition to Rock Creek Campus Building 7 included the purchase of new technology to outfit the space. The installation of the new computers left Building 7’s older model computers without a use.

Vernonia School District receives 85 computers from PCC Rock Creek Campus Building 7’s surplus of technology after renovations.

After learning of Vernonia School District‘s (located along the Nehalem River in Columbia County) need for updated computers, PCC began working on the logistics of donating the surplus computers to the neighboring community. Heavy storms in 2007 washed out roads and infrastructure in Vernonia, including the city’s school. The school was rebuilt in 2012, but the district did not have the resources to upgrade technology.

PCC delivered the 85 computers to the Vernonia School on May 29th, 2014 that will be used by students and staff in the upcoming 2014/2015 school year. The donated computers are 3 years old and still under warranty; a huge improvement from Vernonia’s aging technology
