PCC Hosts End-of-the-Century Art Exhibit of Portland Life, Its Landscape

Visual Chronicle of Portland: Acquisitions 1994-1996
Where:
Northview Gallery, PCC Sylvania Campus, CT Building, Room 214, 12000 S.W. 49th Avenue (I-5 South, Capitol Highway.)
When:
Oct. 3 to Nov. 1, 1996. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why:
Portland Community College and the Regional Arts and Culture Council co-sponsor the Visual Chronicle, a city-owned archival collection of paintings, drawings, prints and photographs depicting city life. Artists’ observations of life in the last decade of this century will be an important legacy for future generations. The collection is a unique portrait of Portland, its artistic vitality and the evolving perceptions of artists in the region. The Visual Chronicle of Portland acquires new works each year by means of a volunteer committee and a modest budget.

Artists represented in the exhibition are Jonnel Covault, Deborah Dombrowski, Robert Dozono, Gregory Haun, George Johanson, Shelley Jordan, Julie Keefe, Ann Kendellen, Cynthia Lahti, Jim Lommasson, Henk Pander, Barry Pelzner, Carola Penn, Tom Prochaska, William Rutherford, Isaka Shamsud-Din, Patrick Stearns, Donna Stegner, Lil Wilburn and Allen Bruce Lee.
