The Theatre Arts department of Portland Community College opens their season Nov. 14 with "Picnic," the play by William Inge. It will be performed at the PCC Performing Arts Center on the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. (I-5 So., Capitol Highway exit). Set in the backyard of two families in Kansas, "Picnic" is the story of one Labor Day weekend in the 1950s when a stranger shows up and steals the heart of the prettiest girl in town. Failed relationships, late-life romance, family feuds — all are themes in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play.

The cast list includes Barbara Reynolds as Helen Potts, Ben Sickles as Hal, Amorette D’Ouvergne as Millie, Craig Owens as Bomber, Catherine Wadkins as Madge, Kate Dulin as Flo, Nicollette Jeffries as Rosemary, Robert Thorne as Alan, Cyndi Clifford as Irms, Celina Lorenz as Christine and Ryan Schaufler as Howard Bevans.
