Registration deadline approaching for women entrepreneur pilot project

If you’ve ever dreamed of operating a successful business, then a free entrepreneurial program for women through Portland Community College may hold the key to your success.
Project NEW (the Network to Empower Entrepreneurial Women) is being provided for free Feb. 3 through March 31 by PCC’s Institute for Management and Professional Development (IMPD) to give prospective women entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed in business. The course will be held at the Central Portland Workforce Training Center, 1626 S.E. Water Ave., from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays for nine weeks.
Applications for enrollment are currently being accepted. The deadline for returning applications to IMPD is Monday, Jan. 11. IMPD will select the top 25 applicants to participate in the project, which will serve as a test site for launching the program nationwide.
This pilot project developed by Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas, will tap the entrepreneurial potential of students while providing them with 40 hours of intensive training.
Course training includes an intense study of entrepreneurship, how to draw up a business plan, how to promote a business, empowerment and leadership techniques, how to manage cash flow, how to finance a new venture and more.
