New Dean of Students at Cascade Brings Wealth of Experience to Portland Community College

PORTLAND — Portland Community College’s new dean of students has spent her professional life helping college students be successful and comfortable in their surroundings.
From being a resident assistant and head resident at U.C. Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, Calif., in the late 1960s to being the dean of students at Suffolk County Community College in Selden, N.Y., prior to coming to Portland, Linda Reisser has shown a life-long commitment to students.
Reisser (pronounced RY-zer) comes to PCC after seven years of experience as the dean of students at Suffolk County Community College and Rockland Community College in Suffern, N.Y. Prior to taking dean of students positions in New York, Reisser helped students succeed for seven more years as the dean of students at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, Wash. Related positions at South Dakota State University complete the Reisser professional portrait. She holds a doctoral degree in higher education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass.
PCC Cascade Executive Dean Mildred Ollee said Reisser’s wealth of experience as dean of students and her passion for achievement in the position made her the ideal person to lead students at Cascade.
"We are so happy to have someone of Linda’s caliber here at Cascade," Ollee said. "She is a creative, hard-working person who knows the student services field and has a strong commitment to seeing students achieve. We are lucky to have her."
Cascade Campus, located at 705 N. Killingsworth St., serves nearly 9,000 students each year. Students turn to Cascade for job training, college transfer and self-improvement courses. Classes begin at PCC on Sept. 21.
