Popular Native American Speaker Coming to Sylvania

Photos and Story by

Winona LaDuke, the former Green Party vice presidential candidate and nationally known Native American rights activist, author and speaker, will be at PCC’s Performing Arts Center on the Sylvania Campus, Wednesday, April 28 from noon to 1 p.m.

The free speaking engagement coincides with the celebration of Native American History Month, and is part of the Portland area’s Earth Day festivities.

Organizers of the PCC event have touted LaDuke’s visit "an outstanding opportunity for PCC students and the community at large to hear a truly remarkable woman who is proud of her ancestry and actively involved politically and environmentally."

Joining in on the celebration at the Performing Arts Center from 11 a.m. to noon, the Eagle Valley Singers will put on a demonstration of Native American-style drumming. The Sylvania Campus is located at 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.
