PCC Northview Gallery Drawing on Experience

Photos and Story by

PORTLAND – Renowned artist Clint Brown will have his drawings on display at Portland Community College’s Northview Gallery. The exhibition will begin Jan. 13 and end on Feb.11 at the gallery, located in room 214 of the CT building on the Sylvania Campus. Brown, a professor of art at Oregon State University since 1970, has had more than 20 solo exhibitions regionally, nationally and internationally. He has taken part in numerous group shows and competitions in such venues as the Oregon Biennial, the Bellevue Art Museum, the Seattle Art Museum and the Tapei Fine Arts Museum in Taiwan.

The former Fulbright scholar’s intricate drawings can be found in major Northwest collections like the Portland Art Museum, Seattle Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Intel Corp., and Mentor Graphics. The work in this show features large-scale figurative drawings that deal with societal issues like AIDS, the environment and interpersonal relationships. This is strong, dynamic work rendered with consummate skill.

Brown is also the author of "Drawing from Life," published by Harcourt Brace (second edition, 1997). Northview Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The gallery’s director is Hugh Webb. For more information, contact Webb at 503-977-4264.
