PCC Theatre Arts Presents 'The Diary of Anne Frank'

Portland Community College’s Theatre Arts department on the Sylvania Campus announces its winter term production of "The Diary of Anne Frank." The performance dates are Thursdays through Saturdays, March 2-4 and 9-11, starting at 7:30 p.m. each day at the Performing Arts Center on the Sylvania Campus (12000 S.W. 49th Avenue).
Sue Parks-Hilden, along with Dan Hays (scenic designer and technical director), direct a talented group of student actors. R.J. Conn is guest lighting designer, Margaret Hetherington is the costumer, and 20 technical theatre students support the cast of 12 PCC student actors.
"The Diary of Anne Frank," takes place in the summer of 1942. Anne Frank’s parents gave her a small red-and-white diary for her 13th birthday and within a month the family was forced to go into hiding to avoid capture by the Nazis. Anne chronicled her feelings and dreams in the diary, including the fear and stress of living in hiding. Nearly 60 years later, this diary has become one of the most widely read personal journals of all time. It has been translated into 26 languages and has sold more than 56 million copies. This new adaptation of the original play by Goodrich and Hackett contains material originally held back by Anne’s father.
Tickets are priced $5 for students and seniors, and $6 for general admission. They will go on sale Feb. 21 in the bookstore on the Sylvania Campus, or you can make reservations by calling the Performing Arts Center box office at 503-977-4949. Tickets will also be sold at the door on an availability basis on the nights of the performances. Also, the shows will be interpreted for the hearing impaired at the March 9 show.
