How to Get a Lot of Greens in Your Diet

Photos and Story by

SCAPPOOSE – To be an excellent golfer, it takes drive. It takes a will of iron. Wedged in between those two attributes is patience, because the frustrations of the game of golf are frequently hazardous to one’s health. Success (or basic aptitude) takes time and practice. Portland Community College has developed a non-credit class to help you get the most out of your time on the links.

A good test to determine your need for this class would be if the divot made by your swing goes farther than the ball. If this is true, PCC instructors are ready to impart their wisdom so that you connect with the ball every time. Improve your long and short game, chipping and putting, navigating traps and judging fairways. While you might not end up being on par with Arnold Palmer, you’ll be better at finding birdies in abundance and keeping mulligans to a minimum.

The class runs from 6 to 7 p.m. on six Wednesdays beginning June 21. The class meets at the Wildwood Golf Course, just north of Cornelius Pass Road on Highway 30 in Scappoose. Tuition is $21 and there is a $30 driving fee payable to the golf course at the first class.
