Photos and Story by

BEAVERTON, Ore. – As the Harry Potter phenomenon continues to soar, Portland Community College will offer a non-credit course this February that could put locals on the road to writing the next big children’s book. Writing Children’s Literature will teach students the practical skills they need to get started and get published in a one-day seminar. Marianne Monson-Burton, a published author and editor, will lead the class on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Room 1543 of the Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. The cost is $18. Students are asked to bring two copies of a children’s story they have written. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-533-2708.
