PCC Presents ?Streetcar Named Desire' in March

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – The Theater arts department at Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus will present the Tennessee Williams play, "A Streetcar Named Desire,"for its winter term production. The play will be at 7:30 p.m. on March 7-9 and 14-16 in the Performing Arts Center at the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. The story is set in New Orleans in 1947and walks a fine line between anger and sacrifice. Blanche DuBois’ uninvited entrance into the lives of her sister and brother-in-law leads her into insanity.Sue Parks-Hilden (theater arts instructor) is directing the play. Dan Hays (theater coordinator) is in charge of the play’s scenic and lighting design while student Arielle Corson is working as the stage manager and assistant director. Part-time coordinator Margaret Louise Chapman is serving as the costume designer.The student cast will feature 10 PCC performers. They include Tonya Hurt (Portland) as Blanche DuBois; Mitchell Milliron (West Linn) as Stanley Kowalski; Noelle Guilford (Wilsonville) as Stella Kowalski; Tamara Leigh Hawkins (Portland) as Eunice Hubbell; Timothy Scarrott (Portland) as Steve Hubbell; William Lund III (Portland) as Howard "Mitch"Mitchell; Mary DeFreese (Portland) as the nurse and neighbor woman; Nico Moreau (Portland) as the young collector; Dominick Noval (Beaverton) as Pablo; Nathan Williams (Beaverton) as the doctor; and Alexa Walker (Aloha) as the flower seller.Tickets are $7 for general admission and $5 for PCC students and seniors. Tickets for the play will be available on Feb. 25 at the Sylvania Campus bookstore or by telephone at 503-977-4949. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the evening of performances. The show on Thursday, March 15 will be interpreted for the hearing impaired.
