Migrant Students Selected for Special College Aid Program

ROCK CREEK – Portland Community College has selected 26 participants for its College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) for the 2002-03 academic school year. Chemeketa and Portland community colleges, through a federally funded grant from the U.S. Department of Education, jointly run the program. CAMP serves students from migrant or seasonal farm work backgrounds by providing scholarships and academic guidance for their first year of college. Students must carry at least 12 credit hours and maintain a 2.75 GPA. The following students accepted into the program include Mayra Alfaro, Xochtl Alonso and Sergio Dominguez from Century High School; Vicente Alfaro, Leodegario Cruz and Javier Orozco, graduates of Hillsboro High School; and Eunice Escutia, David Gallardo, Rosario Izquierdo, Ana Linares and Sandra Salazar from Glencoe High School.Graduates also earning scholarships are Aparicio Baltazar, Southridge High School; Juan Cervera, Ulises Gonzalez and Diana Martinez from Sunset High School; Ramon Machain and Cristina Pacheco, Westview High School; and Flori Mota and Sandra Moreno from Beaverton High School. Other recipients include Patty Lopez from Merlo Station High School; Daniela Evangelista and Lilia Evangelista from David Douglas High School; Enrique Pineda-Meza, Jesus Pineda-Meza and Luz Tellez from Newberg High School; and Valente Moreno, graduate of Aloha High School.
