Techniques for Growing a Gorgeous Fall Garden

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Make this fall the season you turn your garden into a showcase. Portland Community College can show you the secrets with its Home Gardening Series, a non-credit course. Canadian nursery professional Rod Smith will lead the nine-week series of classes, covering a broad range of gardening specialties. Each class will meet from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesdays, Sept. 24 through Nov. 19, in Room 1508 of PCC’s Capital Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Topics include: Landscape Design (Sept. 24), Improving Soil (Oct. 1), Trees, Shrubs and Rose Care (Oct. 8), Annuals, Perennials and Bulbs (Oct. 15), Fruits and Vegetables (Oct. 22), Lawn Care (Oct. 29), Pest Control (Nov. 5), Pruning (Nov. 12), and Winterizing Your Garden (Nov. 19).Students can sign up for the entire series for $63, or register for an individual class of interest at $12 per class.
