One-Day Workshop Tunes up Aspiring Grant Writers

Photos and Story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – For those working for non-profit organizations, professionally or as a volunteer, grant writing is relied upon as a persuasive tactic for securing funding and ensuring the success of a cause. Portland Community College will present a non-credit class to enhance grant writers’ efforts in a special Grant Writing Proposals Clinic this winter. Designed for people who have experience with grant writing or who have completed a basic class, this clinic will explain how to fine-tune your proposals to hone in on the best funding sources. Instructor Susan Chandler will cover a review of grant writing, then discuss common themes and issues that separate a good proposal from a great one. Students must bring a completed proposal or one in progress so Chandler can offer individualized strategies. The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, in Room 106 of Building 1 at PCC’s Portland Metro Workforce Training Center, 5600 NE 42nd Ave. Cost is $42. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-978-5205.
