Take First Step in Security Career with Training for Certification

Photos and Story by

BEAVERTON, Ore. – The demand for trained security professionals has seen huge growth in the past year. If you’ve ever considered entering this field, take advantage of the non-credit Security Guard Certification Training course through Portland Community College. State-certified instructor John Kai will lead students through the required training it takes to become certified, explaining the skills it takes to enter the profession. Successful students will receive a certification upon completion of the course, and then have the option of applying to the State for licensure. The class, held over two Saturdays, will be offered twice this term: Jan. 11 through Jan. 18; and March 8 through 15. Both classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at PCC’s Central Portland Workforce Training Center, 1626 S.E. Water Ave. Cost is $60. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-533-2707.
