The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance at PCC

Photos and Story by

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Before you rev your motorcycle on the open road, take the time to tune it up with the basic maintenance skills that can keep you safe and injury-free. In a one-day Saturday class with Portland Community College, you can develop the know-how you need in Motorcycle Inspection and Maintenance Basics this winter. Taught by Bill Spencer, an expert in motorcycle safety and maintenance, this class offers critical information for motorcyclists, including how to properly check tire wear and pressure, judge wheel condition, adjust chain condition, control cable wear, check fluid levels, replace filters and adjust suspensions. Students should bring their own motorcycle to class. The class will be offered twice this term: Saturday, Jan. 25, and Saturday, March 29. Both sessions meet from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. in Room 208 of the AM Building at PCC’s Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Cost is $30. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-533-2707.
