Photos and Story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College honored Dorothy Fisher-Jones, a resident of Lake Oswego, naming the PCC Sylvania Campus Art Department’s digital music studio the Dorothy Fisher-Jones Music Studio. The college held an event dedicating the new music lab, the Dorothy Fisher-Jones Music Studio on Nov. 15. The new studio features 16 state-of-the-art music work stations, including Yamaha digital pianos interfaced with iMac computers and one instructor work station and control console. The studio allows each student to compose and practice at a station and to also receive feedback and instruction from the instructor. The PCC Foundation is a beneficiary in her will and Fisher-Jones intends for the college to receive a benefit upon her death. Fisher-Jones, a renowned opera singer who performed in Europe, the Philippines and in New York, taught voice to students in the Portland area for many years in a studio and in her home. Her bequest will provide scholarship funding for PCC music students studying voice.
