PORTLAND, Ore. – You can do it. That’s the message Portland Community College will strive to share this winter with those facing learning disability challenges. A non-credit class will offer empowerment and specific plans for success in education and careers. Overcome Learning Disabilities – Land Your Dreams will be led by instructor Rebecca Black. Especially designed for students with learning disabilities, the class focuses on recognizing personal potential and understanding how learning disabilities can actually be resources for success. Students will receive a complete employment and education plan through the class process. "This class is the only one of its kind in the local area to address the strengths of having a learning disability,"said Kaia Cabana, PCC Community Education manager. "Students will gain a unique understanding of how conditions such as dyslexia can become a tool for reaching your goals." The class will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 6 through March 17, in Room 302 at Central Portland Workforce Training Center, 1626 S.E. Water Ave. Cost is $87.50.
