PORTLAND, Ore. – Have you ever wanted to make your own documentary? Now you can and at the same time, put your family’s story on center stage. Portland Community College will offer a class in learning the steps of making a documentary about your family in an upcoming non-credit class. Documenting the Family will explore the aesthetics and techniques of documentary filmmaking and apply them to a unique class project. Led by instructor Courtney Herman, students will use their own video camera to produce a short documentary that captures their family’s history on film. The class will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 8 through March 12, in Room 212 of the CT Building at PCC’s Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Cost is $90. Students should come equipped with a video camera and ideas. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-731-6692.
