PCC Microelectronics Program Holds Open House

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Portland Community College’s Microelectronics Technology program is hosting an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 13.The event will be held in the Washington County Workforce Training Center at the Capital Center, Room 1508, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Mark Fullmer, Intel-PCC ambassador, will make a presentation on the industry. There will be information on available scholarships and tours of the microelectronics labs at the training center.Prospective microelectronics students are invited to apply for one of the four types of scholarships. The Washington County Scholarship is setup for Washington County residents and pays up to $400 in tuition, fees and books every term. The Academics and Industry Program with Intel Corporation scholarship helps microelectronics students with 100 percent tuition reimbursement. An Intel scholarship through the PCC Foundation is also available for students who have completed at least 12 credit hours. Another scholarship through the National Science Foundation helps minority women and will begin in winter of 2004.PCC Microelectronics Technology program will have a recruiter available to pass out information detailing the program.
