PORTLAND, Ore. – Natural medicine supports the body’s healing process using natural therapies such as nutrition, herbs and homeopathy. Discover how to harness this healthcare approach for yourself with an upcoming non-credit series offered by Portland Community College.Naturopathic Medicine Series in NE Portland will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 23 through Oct. 21, in Room 235 of Grant High School, 2245 N.E. 36th St. Cost is $75 for the series, or $24 for an individual lecture. Instructor Karen Benton will present a variety of topics as follows: How to Make Your Home Healthier (Sept. 30). Our home environment can be a significant source of potential poisons for our bodies. Does your kitchen cabinet contain formaldehyde or mold? Learn how to choose healthier home products. Current Issues in Women’s Health (Oct. 7). Learn the link between diet and hormone balance and which supplements can improve your health. PMS, fibroids, menopause, osteoporosis, chronic fatigue syndrome and more will be discussed. Healthy Cooking, Healthy Choices (Oct. 14). Why "go organic?"Get the real facts about fat and discover keys to cooking healthy meals and snacks. Try food samples. Your Own "Natural"First Aid Kit (Oct. 21). Get an introduction to using botanicals, homeopathy and water for injuries, bites and stings, colds and more.
