Violinists, fiddlers tune skills with PCC non-credit lessons

PORTLAND, Ore. – Add more creative energy and passion to your violin and fiddle playing. A non-credit class by Portland Community College offers lessons to infuse your music with power and increase your enjoyment of playing.Violin and Fiddle Improvisation, led by instructor and violinist Mark Ocker, whose stage name is Griffbear, guides students through and off the charts with musical interpretation and improvisation, opening the door to many styles and traditions. Students will emerge with a deeper understanding of the truth and beauty in music. "Griffbear’s training is both classical and improvisational,"said Ed Kaiel, PCC Community Education manager. "His passion for his subject is infectious and will be caught by his students."The nine-week class will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, March 29 through May 24, in Room 112 at PCC’s Portland Metropolitan Workforce Training Center, 5600 N.E. 42nd Ave. Cost is $109.
