PORTLAND, Ore. Portland Community College Board member Maureen Breckenridge resigned from the board this month, stating that she will be relocating to Massachusetts due to professional and family commitments. Breckenridge has been a member of the board since her appointment to fill a vacancy in 2002. She was elected to a four-year term in 2003. She represented Zone 6 on the board."I have very much enjoyed my service on the board and the relationships I have established with the college community. I have been very proud to be associated with an institution that provides such outstanding educational opportunities for so many residents of our district,"Breckenridge said. PCC Board Chair Bob Palmer said, "Maureen has been an outstanding member of the board and we all will miss her contributions to the board and the college. We value the time she was able to devote to board service and wish her the very best in her next endeavors."The board will appoint a successor to fill Breckenridge’s position this summer. They are seeking applicants who live in Zone 6 and who are interested in serving the community through membership on this policy-making body. The person will be appointed to serve until June 30, 2005 and if interested in serving on the Board would be required to run for election in May 2005. Zone 6 of the PCC Board encompasses portions of mid-Washington County, east of Gaston, Highway 26 south to Newberg and Dundee, and includes Aloha and Beaverton west of Scholls Ferry Road.
