PCC non-credit class offers inside look at Portland art scene

PORTLAND, Ore. – Take advantage of Portland’s growing status as an epicenter of visual art by joining Portland Community College for an insider’s look at some of the city’s hottest galleries. Art Appreciation and Gallery Tours, a non-credit class, features artist Madeline Janovec as your guide to the local art scene. With the help of slides, lecture and discussion, this class will explore the meaning of contemporary art. Then discover art gems for yourself as Janovec leads you through First Thursday in the Pearl District, and Last Thursday along trendy Alberta. The six-week class will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 1 through Aug. 5, at the Zimmerman Community Center, 916 N.W. Lovejoy St. Cost is $89.
