Career Pathways program taking applicants

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Community College Career Pathways training program, a partnership with Mt. Hood Community College, is offering professional technical training programs in the following occupational fields, beginning on Sept. 27.Career Pathways offers training in accounting and bookkeeping clerk, HVAC-R installer, emergency telecommunicator (9-1-1), medical coding and insurance billing and medical lab assistant. The Career Pathways program targets students seeking accelerated entry-level occupational training.A career pathway is a system of connected courses, student services, and job search tools that help students achieve educational and career goals. The cost of the program ranges from $1,500 to $3,000.Some of the key components of Career Pathways include three-to-six month training programs, job readiness classes and job placement services, work-centered curriculum that will transfer to higher levels of education and internshipsFor more information, contact Andrew Roessler, PCC education coordinator for workforce development, at 503-788-6271, or Yvonne Ellison, PCC’s Dislocated Workers Program coordinator, at 503-788-6218.
