Create a home network with PCC online class

PORTLAND, Ore. – If your household is following the American trend, it’s likely you have more than one computer at home and more computers come with more peripheral devices including printers, faxes and connections. A new online course offered by Portland Community College can show you how to keep everything organized and simplified by creating your own network. Creating a Home or Small Office Network, a non-credit online class, will explain how to slash expenses and improve efficiency by sharing printers, Internet connections, drives and documents. Students only need to have access to Windows XP to begin setting up a network. "Finally, everyone in the family can use the Internet at the same time!" read one recent student evaluation. "This class made setting up a network easy and saved us more squabbles over whose turn it is." Held entirely online via the Internet, the six-week class offers the flexibility to open lessons whenever your schedule allows and features discussion boards with the instructor and other students. The class will be offered four times this fall: choose from Sept. 15 through Oct. 22, Oct. 20 through Nov. 26, Nov. 10 through Dec. 17, or Dec. 8 through Jan. 14. Cost is $69.
