PORTLAND, Ore. – Learn powerful graphic design techniques to help you build websites that are attractive and effective. Portland Community College will offer an online Web design class this fall. Designing Effective Websites, a non-credit class, will help you become familiar with good user interface design techniques that will allow visitors to navigate your site with ease. Learn how users read on the Web and characteristics of good Web writing. The online class format makes it easy to test graphic design principles and other tools on your pages right away. "This course was extremely helpful to my pursuit of Web design knowledge on many levels," read one recent student evaluation. "I came to discover that organization and development are just as important as technical issues and how I can use those tools." Held entirely online via the Internet, the six-week class offers the flexibility to open lessons whenever your schedule allows and features discussion boards with the instructor and other students. The class will be offered four times this fall: choose from Sept. 15 through Oct. 22, Oct. 20 through Nov. 26, Nov. 10 through Dec. 17, or Dec. 8 through Jan. 14. Cost is $69.
