Photos and Story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – Explore a country only recently opened to Western travelers: a visit to Tibet reveals a fascinating chronicle of history, culture and religion that can only be experienced first-hand. This January, Portland Community College will offer a free informational session detailing how you can participate in an upcoming non-credit trip to the country. Tibet Spirit, Culture and Trekking: Free Info Session is a great opportunity to meet with past travelers and gain information on the PCC education travel program to Tibet. Learn more about the sacred temples and palaces you will visit, and get a preview of the political and spiritual forces at play. Hear what it will be like to visit with a Tibetan family and monks at various monasteries. The info session will include an expanded itinerary of the trip, slated for May 4 through 12. Cost of the trip is $2,655 and includes airfare from Los Angeles, hotels and activities. The free info session will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in Room 304 of the PCC Central Portland Workforce Training Center, 1626 S.E. Water Ave. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-731-6622.
