Lift your voice and join the choir

PORTLAND, Ore. – Music is the universal language; it transcends all cultures and times and speaks to young and old alike. If you have been out of the music world for a while, maybe it’s time to jump back in. Portland Community College offers the chance to participate in a choir that will express your musicality beautifully. Choir Class, a non-credit offering from PCC, expands your musicality through singing in a vocal ensemble. Students will rehearse a variety of choral music using intermediate sight singing. Instructor and vocalist Jolanta Szopa-Tabisz will lead non-majors and community singers, as well as those with more experience. "This is a great opportunity for those who appreciate the magic of music to become involved in a choral group," says Szopa-Tabisz. "Choir members don’t have to be trained singers or know how to read music. The only prerequisite is a love of singing." The 11-week class will be held from 7 to 8:50 p.m. Wednesdays, March 30 through June 8, at the PCC Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Cost is $99.
