PORTLAND, Ore. – People who are over 50 and thinking about retiring have an opportunity to discover their passion and purpose in order to build a meaningful retirement. Life by Design is offering free assessments and workshops that will gauge a person’s personality and help them explore and choose the post-retirement life that best suits them. The following assessments and workshops are all held at Portland Community College’s Central Portland Workforce Training Center (1626 S.E. Water Ave.): Assessment Workshop – 8:30 to 12:30 a.m., Friday, March 25. Participants will take two self-assessments designed to provide feedback on work values and personality. Think of Your Future Class – 6:30 to 9 p.m., March 22, 29 and April 5 and 12. This class will focus on the philosophy of retirement, time use, working options and focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle. Life Planning for the Third Age Class – 6 to 8 p.m., March 30 and April 6, 13 and 20. This four-session course will explore the components of life planning; self discovery; visioning; and implementing goals. All participants will be asked to give feedback on the assessments to choose the best tools for future use. These free assessments are made possible through Life by Design, a collaborative effort of several organizations to provide resources and opportunities for those considering life beyond retirement.
