PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for 2004. It’s the fourth straight year PCC has received this honor. Institutions that have high standards of governmental budgeting receive this award. In order to receive the budget award, the recipient had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, which includes how well it serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. The GFOA press release stated, "The award represents a significant achievement by the entity. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation." The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving 14,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The group has awarded 900 Distinguished Budget Awards since 1984.
