PCC's free spring lectures offer lunch-hour lift

PORTLAND, Ore. – Downtown workers: spending too much quality time with your computer? Need a noontime lift? Take a break and get a mental tune-up with Portland Community Colleges free lunch-and-learn series designed especially for the working professional.Bring your lunch and join PCC for a slate of six free lectures held from noon to 1 p.m. every Thursday, April 7 through May 12, at the Multnomah County Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave. The non-credit Downtown Lecture Series includes the following topics:Effective Persuasion (April 7). Persuasion lies at the heart of many of our interactions and features prominently in product advertising and popular culture. Speaker Courtney Dillard will share the seven fundamentals of persuasion to become a savvy consumer and a more skilled persuader.Live Authentically and Powerfully (April 14). Judy Pearson will explore the connection between assertiveness and living a healthy, happy life. Learn the top 10 keys to standing up for your life. Six Seconds to Less Stress (April 21). Redirect the energy you use stressing and spinning your wheels to achieving your personal goals and objectives. Speaker Phil Mandel will show you how to turn your energy in a positive direction. Success Strategies for the Ambivalent (April 28). Many of us have areas where we feel stalled, but inner conflicts and mixed emotions need not stop you. Speaker Jan Carothers will explain how to use these conflicts to help make choices and take action that propels toward the life you want. Meaningful Relationships (May 5). Success is a hollow achievement without a strong network of support and friendship. Hear from David Jacob how to use a simple formula to empower you to build connection, communication and trust in all your relationships.Art of Mediation (May 12). Explore the benefits of mediation.
