PCC students stage one-act plays

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – Dark comedies and insightful dramas, all in one act.Portland Community College’s Theater Arts Department is hosting the Student One-Act Play Festival at 7:30 p.m. from April 14-16 and 2 p.m. on April 17 at the Sylvania Campus Little Theater (12000 S.W. 49th Ave). Tickets are $5 for general admission. For tickets, please call 503-977-4848.All plays are student written, directed, acted and designed. The four plays chosen this year are "Meatloaf in the Moonlight" by David Gallic, directed by Mike Chapman; "The Monolith" by Ruth Ann Homan, directed by Dug Martell; "No Glass Eyes or Pets" by Josh Gross, directed by Allison May; and "Two Drink Minimum" by Julie Bako, directed by Heather Dicianna."These plays were solicited from the student population of Portland Community College and instructors and peers chose the plays to be performed," said Michael Najjar, theater arts instructor. "This festival is an excellent opportunity to see the best new plays that Portland has to offer." "Meatloaf in the Moonlight" is a dark musical comedy about a family that resorts to insane tactics in order to achieve their zany ends. "The Monolith" is the story of two brothers struggling to cope with the death of their father. "No Glass Eyes or Pets" is an exploration of the comedic uncertainty of choosing a roommate from the classified ads; and "Two Drink Minimum" is a story of the pleasures and pitfalls of dating in the 21st century.
