Build your own career at PCC! Whether you are just out of high school or looking to get the training you need to take that next career step, the Building Construction Technology program has all the tools to erect a solid career.
Building Construction Technology, at PCC’s Rock Creek Campus, offers an associate of applied science degree, a one- and two-year certificate, as well as a construction management option. The program is ideal for students wanting to work in the residential construction industry and for those who are already working in administrative support in commercial construction and want to learn management. The program, the only one of its kind in the region, gives students real-world experience and offers hands-on class work in a 7,000 square-foot shop and one-acre building site. There’s also an opportunity to get cooperative experience working on a real job site. PCC instructors say that without knowledge or experience, it can be difficult to get into the construction industry.
The construction industry is full of opportunities, and companies need skilled workers. In 2004 the average wage was $38,200, much better than the average Oregon wage of $33,700.
