Careers in computer information systems are coming back, thanks to Oregon’s economic recovery. So there’s no better time to get a jump on a new career.
PCC’s Computer Information Systems program offers a two-year associate of applied science degree, a one-year certificate to enhance job skills and a one-year advanced certificate in e-commerce. These leading-edge courses include skill building in programming, database development, Web technology, network administration and technical support. Starting this fall, the program will even feature a course on the fundamentals of two-dimensional computer game development, including a survey of computer game categories and platforms, major game components, the development process and game graphics.
The best thing about the program is that the credits are easily transferable to most universities, especially to institutions where the program has agreements like Oregon Institute of Technology and Linfield College. There are job placement and internships available so even if you don’t have a foot in the door, PCC instructors and staff can help you get on your way. With flexible schedules and expanded, state-of-the-art labs at all three campuses and Southeast Center, learning will be fun and challenging. And it doesn’t matter what kind of student you are.
