Gateway to College accepting students for winter

PORTLAND, Ore. Portland Community College’s Gateway to College Program is now accepting applicants for winter term. Classes start in January for the program at the Cascade Campus (705 N. Killingsworth St.), Rock Creek Campus (17705 N.W. Springville Rd.) and the Southeast Center (2305 S.E. 82nd Ave.). Interested students need to attend orientations held in November and December to be admitted. This month, orientations will be 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the Washington County Workforce Training Center (18624 N.W. Walker Rd.), Room 1563; and from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the Southeast Center, Mount Scott Hall, Room 207. Prospective students must call 503-788-6225 to reserve a spot, or confirm dates and times for December orientations. Gateway to College is one of PCC Prep’s Alternative Programs and is a unique educational opportunity for youth ages 16 to 20 to complete high school through PCC. Students in Gateway can earn a high school diploma from PCC while simultaneously earning college credit. The Gateway to College program targets students who have left high school, or are at risk of leaving high school before graduating. The program serves students from the Portland Public, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard/Tualatin, and Lake Oswego school districts.
