Gospel Extravaganza to honor spirit of MLK
PORTLAND, Ore. - On the evening of April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr. was standing on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis, Tenn., about to lead a protest march in sympathy with striking garbage workers of that city. In a matter of moments, he was assassinated. Posted January 5, 2006
PCC-Rock Creek honors memory of MLK
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Community College, in conjunction with the Inter-Religious Action Network of Washington County, The Baha'is Community, and the City of Beaverton, is celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15 in the Event Center at the Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Rd. Parking is free and refreshments, including sweet potato pie, pound cake and coffee, will be served. Posted January 5, 2006
