Class reviews what's in your medicine cabinet

Photos and Story by

HILLSBORO, Ore. – With the rising costs of prescription and non-prescription medicine, it is often painful to throw out unused medicine. However, using medicine without your doctor’s supervision or using medicine that is past its expiration date can be dangerous and ineffective. This may be a good time to evaluate your overflowing medicine cabinet and throw away the things that are no longer useful. Portland Community College is offering a free, non-credit class that will help you evaluate the contents of your medicine cabinet and review the things that will benefit your overall health. Using Medicines Wisely will be led by pharmacy students from Oregon State University. Bring a list and instructions for your medications (including over-the-counter and herbal). The class will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Hillsboro Library, 775 S.E. 10th Ave. For more information, contact the PCC Community Education office at 503-533-2708.
