Hands-on Alberta Street classes offer insights into art

PORTLAND, Ore. – Explore the burgeoning art scene on Alberta Street this winter. Portland Community College non-credit classes offer hands-on and creative experiences which take place in working art studios and galleries where new ideas and new artists are emerging every day. Explore creativity with joy in Artmaking as Playful Prayer! Use new cultural and spiritual influences in art to make collage. The class will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 1 through March 8, at Collage, 1639 N.E. Alberta. Cost is $80. Work in the artist’s studio with Wild and Whimsical Pastel Workshop. Learn to use pastel as bold and playful color. Begin with drawing and finish the class with two pieces of completed artwork. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at The Core Source, 5509 N.E. 30th. Cost is $60. All supplies included in fee.
