PCC hosts part-time faculty fair to expand diversity

PORTLAND, Ore. – To increase diversity and create an easier employment path to the college, Portland Community College is hosting a part-time faculty recruiting fair in February.Those interested in applying for part-time faculty positions should attend the event, which will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the CC Building Upper Mall at the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Attendees should bring their resume and sign up for sessions at the event. The fair, free to attendees, will feature information sessions on how to become a part-time instructor at the college, how to apply for PCC jobs and what qualifications PCC is looking for in its part-time faculty."We’re excited to provide an opportunity for potential part-time faculty to have some ‘face-to-face’ time with department chairs, who are central to the hiring process, and to attract new candidates for our part-time faculty positions who can help us further diversify our faculty," said Paul Hill, interim president at the Sylvania Campus.The schedule includes individual appointments with selected faculty department chairs between 5:30 to 8 p.m.; question-and-answer session with Sylvia Welch, director of PCC’s affirmative action, from 6 to 8 p.m.; breakout session, "How to Use PCC’s Online Application System," at 5:40 and 6:40 p.m. in the Teaching Learning Center; and the "How to Put Your Best Foot Forward," sessions at 6:10 and 7:10 p.m., also in the TLC. Feature programs and departments include visual and performing arts, science and computer technologies, student support services, business and humanities and libraries. Parking is free, starting at 5 p.m. The campus is easily accessible by Tri-Met Bus Route 44 and 78. The PCC Shuttle will also be in use for the event.
