PCC-Sylvania hosts Stop the Hate Conference

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Sylvania Campus will be the place to stop bias and hate crimes.

The Fourth Annual Stop the Hate: Train the Trainers workshop will be held at Portland Community College Friday through Sunday, May 19-21. This workshop develops leaders to confront bias incidents and hate crimes when they happen in the community. The workshop runs from 1 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The event will be held in the SC Building at the Sylvania Campus, located at 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. The cost is $445.

The workshop will show attendees how to educate others in the community to be aware, informed and have the resources to deal with hate. Trainers from the Anti-Defamation League in New York, the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Association of College Unions International will lead the workshops. This event is sponsored by Portland Community College Staff Development Fund and the Associated Students of Portland Community College.
