Westside Job Fair set for May 24 at Hawthorn Farms

PORTLAND, Ore. — More than 1,200 job seekers now have a way to get connected to employment opportunities on the west side.

Portland Community College is hosting the First Annual Westside Link Job and Career Fair. The fair will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24 at the Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club in Hillsboro, located at 4800 N.E. Belknap Court. Industries represented at this year’s fair include manufacturing, high tech, health care, finance, retail, construction and hospitality.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for job seekers and employers,” said Rachel Mack, business services coordinator for PCC workforce development. “Job seekers can connect with numerous employers within a wide variety of occupations and employers can access a huge pool of candidates.”

Employers attending include Merix Corporation, Maryville Nursing Home, Nike, Stream International, Farmer Insurance, Northwest Staffing Resources, Cambridge College, Barrett Business Services, Inc., Columbia Construction Services, Wells Fargo, Staff Finders Technical of Oregon, Comcast, Oregon Army National Guard, Davis Tool, Schwan’s Home Service, Inc., U.S. Army and Marines, Oregon Employer Council, Worksystems, Inc., and Kelly Services.

Job seekers can prepare for the event by attending resume and interviewing workshops at the Capital Career Center (18624 NW Walker Road) or use the center’s Job Search Resource Room to work on and have staff critique their resumes leading up to the job fair.
