Learn to draw Chinese and Japanese characters

PORTLAND, Ore. – A non-credit Portland Community College class will guide students through the world of East Asian language characters.

In the course, Introduction to Chinese/Japanese (Kanji) Characters, students will learn from Japanese teacher and translator Laurence Wiig to write from memory at least 300 Kanji using “imaginative recall.” It’s a fun class, done all in English, and is perfect for beginners. The class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesdays, Sept. 26 through Nov. 14 in Room 1544 at the Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Cost is $79.
