KUDOS: Science Expo rewarded with $7,500 grant

The Grants Office at PCC is pleased to announce the award of $7,500 from the Intel Foundation to the PCC Science Expo.

The Sylvania Campus will be hosting the PCC Science Expo, a state At-Large Science Fair, as part of the Northwest Science Expo System. The fair, which will be judged by PCC faculty, as well as other science and engineering professionals, will develop and showcase scientific talent and science literacy.

This grant will allow PCC to send two students, two teachers and the Science Fair Director to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as provide materials and supplies for the Science Expo.

Film festival receives funds to lure top director

The Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC) awarded $5,000 to the 17th Annual Cascade Festival of African Films.

One of the focuses at this year’s festival will be the 50th anniversary of Ghana’s independence. This grant from RACC will provide funds to bring Ghana’s foremost film director, Kwah Ansah, to help open the festival. Ansah will present two of his recent films, answer questions and share insights on contemporary filmmaking in African and the legacy of independence.

$2,000 to Illumination Project

The Illumination Project received $2,200 from the Equity Foundation. This one-year grant will assist in support the project, which is a year-long student program designed to address issues of tolerance, diversity, and respect for all people in our academic and general community through interactive performances. Students write and produce performances across the district, with audience participation to address these critical issues.
