It’s often said that there is no free lunch, but there is a free Lunch and Learn Lectures Series. For those wanting to exchange ideas, Portland Community College’s non-credit, free brown-bag-style lecture series is a perfect way to hear from professional, energetic speakers about issues relevant to professional and personal life.

Bring a lunch and join other professionals, noon to 1 p.m., Thursdays, April 10 through May 15, Downtown Central Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave. Portland Community College’s Downtown Lecture Series will include the following free topics:

• Ancient Tool for the 21st Century (April 10). Why would an apparently sane 21st century businessman devote 30 years of his life to studying, using, and teaching the tarot and its Kabbalah roots? Learn what it can do for you! Speaker: Don Clarkson.

• Rapport- Who Needs It! (April 17). Using proven techniques, learn how to establish rapport quickly and respectfully. Enhance both verbal and nonverbal communication and make a positive, lasting, first impression. Speaker: Phil Mandel.

• Reduce Your Stress through Nutrition (April 24). Stress affects our physical, mental and emotional health. Learn how nutrition and stress are related and how to eat well to deal with unavoidable stressors. Speaker: Lee Petrie.

• Strategies for Embracing Change (May 1). Change isn’t always about completely letting go of the old. The best changes blend your history and core values with a new focus to move forward. Explore strategies to help you plan for change. Speaker: Cheryl Hinerman.

• Moving Through Transitions (May 8). Explore the stages of transition in your career, your relationships and your life. Clarify the tasks that need to be addressed and the obstacles that can get in the way. Speaker: Jill Nelson-Debord.
