Financial Aid Day designed to help students get money

Photos and Story by

Any student who needs help paying for college can get it at Portland Community College.

The college’s annual Financial Aid Day from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 30, is an opportunity for current and future students to get some help in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Students don’t need to be enrolled at PCC to participate in Financial Aid Day, which will be held at four locations around the college district.

There will be plenty of help for students at PCC's campuses during Financial Aid Day.

Financial aid is as important as ever. Congress and the state of Oregon have greatly increased the money available for grants. At the very least, students may receive a low-interest student loan, but if they qualify, they also may receive free money (grants) from the federal government, the state of Oregon and PCC.

“With the downturn in the economy more people are turning to community colleges to get an affordable start to their education or looking to re-train into a new field or gain valuable skills to become more marketable in the employment market,” said Preston Pulliams, PCC District President. “All it takes is some time on their part to see if they qualify.”

The following are the location details and Financial Aid Day telephone numbers only. The general Financial Aid office phone is (503) 977-4934.
