Blog: Ways & Means comes to Sylvania

Photos and Story by

Ask Republicans and Democrats. Ask liberals and conservatives. Everyone will tell you that the single most important task facing any legislature is this: crafting a budget.

The budget is the blueprint. It lays out the priorities of those in power.

On Tuesday, April 19, the budget-writing body of the Oregon Legislature, the Ways & Means Committee, will meet at 5 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave., Portland.

This will be the full Ways & Means, focusing on the entire $14 billion state budget. The members will take testimony from advocates across the system.

We are anticipating a more-than-sold-out crowd, so we will be broadcasting the event live in the PAC lobby and in an overflow room in the Science and Technology Building, Room 101.

If you would like to testify, sign-up sheets will be available in the lobby. A large crowd is expected, so it is recommended that people sign up early.

PCC’s Cascade Campus also played host to the Ways & Means Committee two years ago.
